Creating a “Safe and Healthy” neighbourhood for residents, businesses and sex workers
All community members have a role to play in creating a safe and healthy neighbourhood. The first step is to come together and learn about each other’s questions, concerns and thoughts. For neighbourhoods to begin to address issues with respect to sex work a Kitchen Table Discussion Guide was developed to assist in organizing small gatherings of residents, sex workers and individuals from local businesses and service organizations to discuss this issue.
Sensitivity Training: Improving Accessibility
The guide and power point presentations were developed for businesses, organizations, medical professionals and residents to assist in understanding some of the issues faced by sex workers and in identifying ways that community services can be more accessible and our behaviours are respectful and caring. The power points include a voice -over so that they can be used in volunteer and staff training or viewed by residents. Handouts accompany the power points.
